Safe Intravenous Therapy at Home

When a patient suffers from severe dehydration, gastrointestinal illness, electrolyte imbalance, or requires multi-dose IV antibiotics, transporting them to a hospital emergency room can be physically distressing.

NNM Care nurses provide careful bedside IV management. Our nurses ensure vein integrity, adjust drop counts accurately, monitor vital signs during the infusion, and ensure safe removal or heparin flushing when complete.

What Our IV Nurses Ensure

Sterile Cannulation (Venipuncture)

Skilled insertion of peripheral IV cannula using aseptic technique to minimize pain and prevent hematoma.

Drop Rate & Flow Regulation

Precise regulation of infusion rate according to medical orders to prevent circulatory overload.

Extravasation & Phlebitis Checks

Frequent inspection of the insertion site for redness, tenderness, swelling, or fluid leakage.

Doctor-Prescribed Drug Administration

Safe reconstitution and piggyback delivery of IV antibiotics, pantoprazole, ondansetron, or multivitamins.

Continuous Patient Monitoring

Checking blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation before, during, and after the infusion.

Frequently Asked Questions About Home IV Care

Does the nurse stay during the entire IV fluid infusion?

Yes. The nurse monitors flow rate, checks cannula patency, watches for phlebitis or infiltration, and continuously assesses the patient’s vital signs until the prescribed infusion is safely completed.

What equipment is required for home IV therapy?

You will need the doctor’s prescription and the prescribed IV fluids/medicines. The nurse arrives with sterile equipment including an IV infusion set, cannula, tourniquet, antiseptic swabs, micropore tape, and sharps container.

Can NNM Care nurses insert or change an IV cannula?

IV and infusion care is offered only by nurses who list it among their services, and every nurse’s qualification and registration documents are reviewed before they can accept bookings.
